1 If it's music you want ...

If it's music you want, this is probably one of the biggest weekends of the year in Inverness! Live In The City offers two nights of top – and contrasting – artists at the Northern Meeting Park. Friday, June 30 gives you Clean Bandit and Ella Henderson doors from 6pm with Fort William's rising singer songwriter Keir Gibson too. And on Sunday, July 2, also doors at 6pm, Rag 'n' Bone Man brings his giant and emotional voice to the stage. Poised on the verge of a new album, Rory Graham has promised a couple of new ones in his set. He talks about this and much more here:

And on Saturday, July 1 at Tooth & Claw two North bands give you a line-up worth checking out – they have already sold out the original Friday gig! Silver Coast – who rocked the place out last time with a full-on performance – make an irresistible double-bill with Caithness band Forgetting The Future, just back from the Isle of Wight Festival and always exciting live. Tooth & Claw, doors 7pm

2 Prescription for one-off fun ...

An unusual one-off event on Friday, June 30 at 7.30pm gives you the chance to meet a legendary TV medic with Alan Fletcher: The Doctor Will See You Now. For 28 years, the actor played Dr Karl Kennedy, before news came last year that the soap was to be axed. And just as fans got ready to mourn the last special episodes, news came over might not be totally over ... This show has video footage, as well as live musical performances (Alan is a keen musician too) as well as the expected hilarious anecdotes, accumulated through all those telly years. Expect a look at some unforgettable storylines, bloopers, secrets from behind the scenes and the emotional final weeks of filming what was then the show’s final episode before the show was reprieved in 2023. There will also be a live Q+A section plus there are a limited number of meet and greet opportunities before the show, so check with the theatre (01463 234234) or email: eden-court.co.uk

3 Get the laughs while you can ...

It’s been a long wait for globe-trotting Scot Danny Bhoy – glowing quotes about his shows come from Montreal and Australian papers. But back in the UK, Danny returns to Eden Court on Sunday, July 2 at 7.30pm with his brand-new show Now Is Not A Good Time. If you like a bit of observational storytelling, this is worth settling back for.

4 Starry cast in Asteroid City – plus two special screenings

Weird comedy sci-fi drama from cult director Wes Anderson comes at you with Asteroid City (12A) starring an A-list Hollywood cast including Tom Hanks and Tilda Swinton. Set in a fictional American desert town around 1955, the film's focus is a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organised to bring together students and parents from across the country for "fellowship and scholarly competition". But it is all spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events. You can see the film at Eden Court until July 6.

On Monday, July 3 at Eden Court and Vue Cinema from 7pm, a Ziggy Stardust 50th Anniversary event will see Ziggy Stardust return to the Hammersmith Apollo to mark 50 years since David Bowie’s last performance as his famous alter-ego wih Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: The Motion Picture (12A). It is digitally restored with never-before-seen footage. The full, uncut version of D A Pennebaker’s film includes a performance by late guitarist Jeff Beck. Before the film, there will be a conversation with some of Bowie’s famous friends, including pianist Mike Garson. A Q&A will look at Ziggy’s legacy. Garson will open the show as he did in 1973, with a live solo piano arrangement of some of Bowie’s best-known tracks.

Vue Cinema celebrates its 20th birthday with a special screening of Top Gun: Maverick (12A) for one night only on Thursday, July 6. Set 34 years after Top Gun, Tom Cruise returns in his iconic role as Maverick.
