Lots of drama this week with all the fun of an updated Kidnapped, the new show about the Western Isles to Canada story of Metagama, plus a charity cathedral concert with an impressive line-up, must-see local bands, and the return of the Inverness Acoustic Music Club. Been yet?

1 Yes, swashbuckling bromance is now a thing!

Let your imagination get Kidnapped! This show is one of the week's biggest moments with comedy, pathos, great performances, fast one-liners, and Robert Louis Stevenson's classic Highland-set story rebooted for now, without changing everything people have always loved about the classic adventure. Though they have changed up the bromance to a rom-com! And added some 80s indie heartbreakers to the soundtrack. On now until Saturday, April 29, National Theatre Of Scotland’s production comes with a savvy cast of talented actors who can sing and play music too – and a grand entrance from hero/ rogue Alan Breck Stewart that might end up being the best you will see all year! And don't forget the special inclusive performances Eden Court puts on so more people can come and enjoy the show. Thursday, April 27 has a touch tour at 6.30pm, then at 7.30pm the show is audio described and captioned; Friday, April 28 7.30pm show is signed; Saturday's first show at 2.30pm is relaxed. Find the one that's right for you!

4 All aboard for centenary concert

An exciting new show In the Wake of Metagama – An Atlantic Odyssey in Story and Song at Eden Court on Saturday, April 29 at 7.30pm for audiences 12+ helping to tell the story of the SS Metagama. The ship left the Isle of Lewis with over 300 islanders from that island alone on an Assisted Passage sailing to Canada. This centenary concert celebrates the stories of those who also then journeyed south to the USA, working in car factories and construction. Some returned home during the Great Depression, but most stayed. Award-winning writer Donald S Murray, musician and songwriter Liza Mulholland, Gaelic singer and actor Dolina MacLennan, and an ensemble of musicians and singers, including Willie Campbell and Christine Hanson, will take you to the plains and lakes of Canada, to 1920s Detroit and Prohibition, "through the ebb and flow of fortunes on both sides of the Atlantic", and on to the present day.

HEADS UP

Don't forget to get your tickets for this big moment in the year's theatre calendar: it's the return of The Stamping Ground – suitable for all ages – to Eden Court, from Friday, May 5 till Saturday, May 13, often 7.30pm, but times vary so check. The musical created by Eden Court and RAW Material reflecting lots of the issues and dilemmas that come with living in a rural Highland community, it tells the story of Euan and Annie who return here, their former home. Looking for a fresh start after city life, they want their teenage daughter to get breathing space. But the place has changed – loads of tourists, a heatwave – and it's not just the place that has changed. They have too. And the couple find that maybe it's not just the community that needs saving... Runrig songs and a story with a heart.
