2 Rainy day fun

Rainy day activities from Highland Museums are HERE online for wet days. On different themes and designed for different age levels, one section includes professionals sharing stories of historic objects and their influence today. Or how about figuring out what object is making the noise you are hearing! Also, at Inverness Museum, a new exhibition means you can look at Leon Patchett's An Inspired Scavenger and get a close look at this sculpture inspired by pine cones. And on Friday, October 6 from 2-4pm, also at Inverness Museum, is the latest Friday Art Club for age 14+ aimed at school age pupils producing portfolio work. Each session has a simple still life set up and drawing in the galleries is encouraged. The session is not tutored, and participants should bring their own materials, though basic materials (paper, pencils, drawing boards) are available. There is no charge for the session – donations are welcome. Places are limited. Email to book: inverness.museum@highlifehighland.com with 'Alison Parfitt' in the subject header.

3 Want to feed the birds?

October's Grow Minis session for four to 10s at Howdens Garden Centre will last 30 minutes and this month is all about bird food and looking after the birds that visit your garden or that you see around you. On Saturday, October 7 at 11am, head to Howdens Garden Centre, where you will be taught about looking after birds and make your own feeder to take home with you. Grow Minis sessions run monthly, last 30 minutes and are best suited for four to 10 year olds – and are free for children accompanied by an adult holding a valid Grow Rewards membership (£2 charge to non members).
