1 Movies for kids

A classic movie series returns to the cinema with Kung Fu Panda (PG) to help get warmed up for the new movie with a run back through the films scheduled over the next few weeks. This weekend, it's the 2008 film where The Dragon Warrior has to clash against the savage Tai Lung as China's fate hangs in the balance. But the Dragon Warrior mantle is mistakenly bestowed on an obese panda ... Showing at Vue Cinema on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13 at 3.15pm.

And there's a new adventure for youngsters to check out with Puffin Rock And The New Friends (U). When the last Little Egg of the season disappears under mysterious circumstances, Oona and her new friends race against time to bring the Little Egg home before a big storm hits Puffin Rock and puts the entire island in danger. At Vue Cinema from Friday, various times.

2 A show about being on the move ...

This 45-minute show described by Eden Court as for youngsters up to six, The Tortoise And The Hare, comes to Eden Court on Friday, August 11 with two shows, at 11am and 1.30pm. The company travels around with their suitcase of stories, spinning yarns and telling tales. What will come out of the suitcase. Get set…GO!

3 Free fun at the Eastgate Centre

Don't forget the chance to enjoy free fun this week at the Eastgate Centre from Monday, August 7 until Saturday, August 12, when you can try the Odd One Out Scavenger Hunt where you have to try and find the summer items hidden in the store windows around Eastgate. 4 Sunday – you choose!

On Sunday, August 13, there's the Under Canvas: Family Fun Day – Free from Eden Court's Engagement team, They are taking over the lawn from noon-8pm for a day with traditional summer garden games, circus skills and dancing to scavenger hunts. And try using a green screen with the film experts! Plus check out a selection of craft stations so you can get creating.

Also for a girly day Princess Party Highland Hospice Charity Event –| £15-£25 – will be run and hosted by Rosalyn Paton for Highland Hospice at Simpsons Garden Centre to end the summer holidays. Wear your best princess outfits and come along to the Princess Party, planned as a fabulous day with games in store and a prize for the best-dressed princess. Child + Adult tickets options – a mini manicure and mini makeover includes: a mini manicure and mini makeover + back, head and shoulder massage or a head massage for the adult.

HEADS UP

Youth Film 13-15 lets you go along whether you’re new to film or it’s something you’ve been exploring a while, and you can join this group coming together to try a hand at filmmaking. You can use Eden Court's professional cameras and editing software to create short films, animations and everything in between. There'll be the chance to view your film on the big screen in June! The course runs from Tuesday, August 22-Tuesday, November 14 from 4.30pm-6.30pm. Block price is £77.
