1 A whole day packed with things to do

Get Set For Summer at the Northern Meeting Club on Saturday, June 24 from 11am-5pm, for free is a charitable event piloted by High Life Highland and LCC Live with a real choice of things to do and try – from inflatable fun and family games to funfair rides, and High Life Highland Young Leaders leading sporting action throughout the day, as well as local sports clubs including the Highland Rugby Club and Inverness Table Tennis. Bookbug will be hosting their famous story time sessions, lego-building, and giving away mystery book bags. The team from the Inverness Castle Experience will reveal the latest progress on the Castle’s exciting redevelopment, and the Highland Archives will have interesting historical displays to view, with special local features including the history of the Northern Meeting Park itself. There will also be fun fitness challenges to get involved in from the Leisure Centre. Members of the public will also be in for a chance to win some fantastic prizes in the big Get Set For Summer Spin-to-Win, including tickets to Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2023, and a whole year’s free Highlife membership. Charities, businesses and crafters from across the Highlands are coming along to present their local products and services, including the Highland Dog Bakery – and visitors are welcome to bring their four-legged friends along to this dog friendly event. Also look out for Ollie’s Pops, Juicy Ness, Whisk Away, Red Shank, and Auld Smokey Pizza from the Highland Food & Drink Trail.

3 A movie moment ...

One of the biggest films this week is No Hard Feelings (15) starring Jennifer Lawrence – here at Vue Cinema from Wednesday, June 21. A cash-strapped 30-something entertains an unusual job offer to ease her financial woes in. No Hard Feelings is inspired by a real-life advert on Craigslist posted by a mother who was looking for someone to date her son before he flew the nest and attended college. In the film, Lawrence plays luckless Uber driver Maddie Barker, whose car is towed away as part of a court order for assets seizure. Faced with the possibility of losing her mother’s house, Maddie answers a job advert from a married couple (Matthew Broderick, Laura Benanti) who are offering a Buick Regal car to anyone willing to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman) before he attends Princeton. The teenager leaves his room to volunteer at the local Rescue Friends animal shelter and doesn’t know how to talk to girls. Maddie promises to bring Percy out of his shell ...
