The winner of the 2022 Inverness Film Festival Audience Award – Lunana: A Yak In The Classroom (PG) is back by popular demand on Wednesday, June 14 at 1pm at Eden Court Cinema. And anyone near Cromarty Cinema on Tuesday, June 13 at 7pm can check out this heartwarming story set in Bhutan too. Ugyen is a young teacher who lives and works in the city. He hopes to leave Bhutan upon completing his mandatory service and travel to Australia to fulfil his dream of becoming a singer. But when the school receives a call to send a teacher to the remote village of Lunana, he is selected for the job. Reluctantly, Ugyen embarks on an experience that will change his life.

2 Pop in for some Gaelic words and music

There's a chance to enjoy some Gaelic culture and local talent with the Inverness Provincial Mod on Friday, June16 and Saturday, June 17 from 9am both days. Children's competitions are on Friday and the instrumental and adult competitions are on Saturday.

3 Step back in time ...

Always things to do at Inverness Museum with hands-on activities in the galleries, trail sheets, games and toys, and a microscope and reading corner. Try grinding flour, play Viking Hnefatafl – or take a selfie in the Jacobite Gallery wearing a plaid! The summer trail is Hairy Highland Coos – so can you find them hiding in the ‘Moo-seum’? And when you get storms like those on Monday, it's lovely to go inside and keep the fun coming!

4 Create your own adventure

The digital team on the Spirit Of The Highlands And Islands project have launched a new feature on the website – www.discoverhighlandsandislands.scot – that allows people to build custom journeys. You can either do it from already created itineraries – or create your own ones from scratch, from over 100 locations across the Highlands and Islands. Suggested journeys are based on themes including adventure, food and drink, heritage, history and archaeology, nature, music and the arts, science and innovation, community and culture. So there is something fun to discover as you make your way across almost every part of our amazing region. Plan a journey for close to home or discover new places farther away and make a weekend of it!

1 A whole day packed with things to do

Get Set For Summer at the Northern Meeting Club on Saturday, June 24 from 11am-5pm, for free is a charitable event piloted collaboratively by High Life Highland and LCC Live has an amazing choice of things to do and try – from inflatable fun and family games to funfair rides, and High Life Highland Young Leaders leading sporting action throughout the day, as well as local sports clubs including the Highland Rugby Club and Inverness Table Tennis. Bookbug will be hosting their famous story time sessions, lego-building, and giving away mystery book bags. The team from the Inverness Castle Experience will reveal the latest progress on the Castle’s exciting redevelopment, and the Highland Archives will have interesting historical displays to view, with special local features including the history of the Northern Meeting Park itself. There will also be fun fitness challenges to get involved in from the Leisure Centre. Members of the public will also be in for a chance to win some fantastic prizes in the big Get Set For Summer Spin-to-Win, including tickets to Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2023, and a whole year’s free Highlife membership. Charities, businesses and crafters from across the Highlands are coming along to present their local products and services, including the Highland Dog Bakery – and visitors are welcome to bring their four-legged friends along to this dog friendly event. Also look out for Ollie’s Pops, Juicy Ness, Whisk Away, Red Shank, and Auld Smokey Pizza from the Highland Food & Drink Trail.
