An Inverness church has celebrated a total of 180 years of service by five of its steadfast members.

Inverness and West Moray Presbytery Clerk, Rev Trevor Hunt, presented long service certificates to five of The Barn Church in Culloden’s most committed members. The service certificates ranged from 30 years to half a century.

Issy Freudenthal, Richard Mansfield and Andrew Ramsay were all given long service certificates marking 30 years of service. Ann Clark received one for her 40 years commitment and Stewart McDonald received his for an astounding 50 years of service to his local church.

The five elders have played a very active role in the Barn Church throughout their extended service and have taken on a wide variety of roles, from Boys Brigade captain to property convenor as well as session clerks, youth leaders, roll keeper and treasurer, amongst others.

Rev Hunt said: “These long-standing members bring stability and continuity. The experience that these people, who have served for a good while, have is for the all-round benefit of the congregation.”

The church celebrated the 40th anniversary of the opening of its “New Barn” home last year.

The congregation is now looking to the future as work continues in their development of a new community garden located next to the church.
