£15,000 cannabis haul seized in Inverness thanks to police sniffer dog Chief

Police sniffer dog Chief has helped officers remove £15,000 worth of cannabis from the streets of Inverness after detecting the haul in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police seized 2.5kg of cannabis – with an estimated street value of between £10,000 and £15,000 – in Seafield Road at 5.20am on Wednesday.

Confirming the haul, a police spokesperson said "enquiries are ongoing" in relation to the seizure.

Taking to their Facebook page, the local force hailed Chief for his "magic nose", and warned dealers in the city that the plucky pooch is always "on the lookout for more"!

They said: "PD Chief does it again, the dog with a magic nose sniffs out 2.5 kgs of cannabis from a premises in Inverness.

"We reckon someone will be 'Green' with envy at the recovery. Enquiries are ongoing and Chief is on the look out for more!"

News of Chief's impressive haul has been widely praised by the public.

Responding to the Facebook post Donald Elliot said: "Extra biscuits are well deserved. Excellent work."

And Evy Donald added: "Fantastic. Well done PD Chief and handler. Keep up the good work."
