SSEN says at least 1225 people hit by power cut between Fort Augustus and Inverness on north/west side of Loch Ness

At least 1225 people living near Loch Ness have been hit by a power cut as Storm Gerrit batters the Highlands.

SSEN is reporting a major outage between Fort Augustus and beyond Drumnadrochit to the north and west of the loch.

A small number of customers in the Dores area and on the south/east Loch Ness shore have also been affected.

Residents in the Invergarry area have been hit be a separate power cut.

The fault was reported at 8:42 am this morning, with SSEN currently awaiting an update from engineers in the area.
