We asked our readers what other businesses they would like to see come to the city centre.

From the international clothing empire, Zara, to world famous homeware company, IKEA, it's fair to say that many locals are keen for more new businesses to be a part of Inverness.

Here are some popular clothing and homeware businesses our readers have suggested should join Inverness high street.

1. Zara

First on the list is highly sought-after fashion label Zara.

This fashion empire sets weekly clothing trends, breaks barriers within the competitive industry and sells high quality pieces. Dozens of our readers commented this clothing brand as a must have in Inverness.


Moving onto homeware, IKEA came on top as the franchise is well known for its aesthetic interior design ideas and affordable café which sells the legendary meatball meal deal.

3. Bershka

Bershka is popular for its fashionable clothing and affordable prices. Much like H&M, and Zara, this clothing company would go down a storm in Inverness.

4. Levi’s

Levi’s was founded in May 1853 and is an American clothing company known worldwide for its branded denim jeans. There are currently 71 Levi’s stores in the UK as of April 11, 2024, however Inverness residents believe it’s time to make it 72 by bringing a store to the Highland’s capital.

5. John Lewis

John Lewis & Partners is a British brand of high-end department stores operating throughout the UK and was founded in 1929. Many people surrounding Inverness are keen to see this luxurious store, that offers so much more than homeware, come to the city centre.

6. Hollister

Hollister is a clothing company owned by Abercrombie & Fitch. The kind of clothing they sell is casual and is based on the surfing cultural movement of Southern California. Quite a few people were keen to see this clothing brand open its doors to Inverness.

Urban Outfitters is a multinational lifestyle retail corporation that is dedicated to inspiring customers through a unique combination of product, creativity and cultural understanding.

This trendy retailer stocks fashion and home sense that is stylish and multi-generational. Lots of our readers have shown interest in bringing the business to Inverness as many say the high street is in dire need of new clothing shops for ladies.
