When you think local art, you think of that psychopath. You know. That one. The one wearing the binbag with “CONSUMERISM” tippexed onto it and the £3,000 grant from Creative Scotland to...well, presumably purchase more binbags and tippex. And possibly a dictionary to discover new words.

Well, we at What's On North reject such stereotypes (despite perpetuating them mere moments ago). Being cultural hip dudes, we're always on the lookout for great art, so we can stroke our collective goatee and appreciate the brushstrokes, the symbolism or just the sheer audacity. Luckily, there was something very good recently for us to enjoy.

At the end of last month, finishing off LGBT History Month, The Bike Shed in Merkinch hosted an exhibition titled Highland Lives. The pieces on display were created to try and showcase examples of life as one of the LGBT community in the Highlands, and a damn fine exhibition it is as well.

“But What's On North!” I hear you cry. “That exhibition is a month over now! How will we gain an artistic showcase now?” No worries! The entire exhibition is now up on YouTube for your perusal.

Have a watch, and enjoy!
