Scottish Premiership
Rangers 3
Ross County 1
Scorers - Rangers: Dessers (4, 45) Souttar (90) Ross County: Murray (28)
Ross County ran Rangers close at Ibrox before succumbing to a narrow defeat in their Premiership clash on Wednesday night.
Rangers took the lead after just four minutes when Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring with a dink over George Wickens from close range.
However, Ross County levelled just before the half hour mark when Eamonn Brophy's cross found Simon Murray who volleyed the ball into the net for the equaliser.
But Rangers regained the lead just before half time when Dessers scored a header.
Josh Reid went close to equalising for Ross County when he saw his header cleared for a corner midway through the second half.
Wickens pulled off a number of saves in the second half to keep Ross County in the game, including a sensational stop from a long range effort from Todd Cantwell.
Rangers managed to kill the game off in injury time when John Souttar scored with a header to secure all three points.
The Staggies remain five points adrift of St Johnstone in 11th place in the relegation play-off zone.
They are also still six points above Livingston at the bottom of the table with a game in hand.
