Duncan Ferguson hoping to continue adding to Inverness Caley Thistle squad after first meeting with prospective new owner Ketan Makwana
Duncan Ferguson says he has had a positive meeting with prospective Inverness Caledonian Thistle owner Ketan Makwana – and has been given the green light to make more signings before this weekend’s trip to Annan Athletic.
The Caley Jags have been hamstrung in the transfer window this summer by the club’s financial plight off the pitch, being limited to free transfers after Nikola Ujdur’s departure freed up some funds.
Ferguson moved to bring in Adam Mackinnon and Flynn Duffy as a result ahead of last weekend’s League One opener against Dumbarton, with both players going straight into the starting 11.
Now former Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Wallace Duffy could be set to return along with trialist Musa Diabaga set to be offered a deal.
At that point, the Caley Thistle manager had not spoken to the incoming owner, but has has now revealed the two sat down for an online call earlier this week.
Budgets were a key part of the conversation, and Ferguson is now optimistic that further deals will be completely imminently.
"I have given the owner, and the club, my targets in terms of what I'm looking for,” he explained.
“I have left that with the club and hopefully we can get one or two in before the weekend.
"I spoke to the (prospective) owner for around an hour, and we talked about all things regarding the club and how we can move it forward.
"Part of that is the budget and how we can bring players in. He was supportive.
"We're looking for a bit of experience if we can get it. The players have got to still be in this area as we still have accommodation problems, but at least it's positive.
"Hopefully I can get one or two in before the weekend. We want to get Musa Dibaga's deal done after he was on the bench against Dumbarton as a trialist, and we've also had Wallace Duffy in. He's in the area, out of contract, and he's someone we're interested in.
"Loan targets are a possibility. It's an avenue we can look at too, but I want to get Musa and Wallace signed because they have been in the building.
“I know Wallace very well. He's in our price range and he has his own apartment in the area. Wallace is a good player, we like him and he wants to sign which is good.”
