Clachnacuddin look to get back on track after midweek defeat
MANAGER Conor Gethins says he is looking for Clachnacuddin to bounce back at Inverurie Locos tomorrow after losing to Nairn County 2-0 on Wednesday night, despite saying they were the better team.
The Lilywhites went down to their first defeat of the campaign at Grant Street Park when they lost 2-0 on Wednesday.
Matthew Wright scored on the half hour mark before a Josh Meekings’ own goal 15 minutes from time decided the contest.
Gethins says he felt Clachnacuddin were the better team, but their lack of decisiveness in the final third was what cost them,
He feels they can put that right at Inverurie tomorrow, saying he is pleased with how his team performed in their first three matches.
Gethins said: "The best team lost on Wednesday, to be honest.
"We were pretty comfortable throughout the night, including our defenders.
"It really was a world-class finish from Matthew Wright. He's capable of that.
"For Nairn's second goal, it was a cross into the box and Josh lost it under the lights.
"Other than that, they didn't trouble us once. It was the most comfortable we'd been in our first three games.
"I told the boys afterwards not to be downbeat, because we were the better team.
"But then, Matthew Wright bangs one in out of nowhere, there's nothing you can do about it.
"Nairn got their first three points and they'll be happy, but we're still happy with how we performed because we passed the ball well. We just didn't create enough in the final third, which was disappointing.”
With wins against Lossiemouth and Keith in their first two matches, Gethins says there is a feel good factor at the club. He feels with some tweaks, they can get back to winning ways at Inverurie.
"There is an energy around the club and within the squad. Everyone seems to be on board with what's going on.
"It was maybe just that wee bit flat on Wednesday in the final third, so maybe that's up to us to do a wee bit of rejigging for Saturday.
"We played them twice towards the end of last season, back-to-back, which you don't ever want to do, and there didn't seem to be a huge amount between the teams, so we'll work on things and be ready for Saturday. Let's see whether we can get back to winning ways.
