Belladrum Festival founder Joe Gibbs has revealed his key moment as the annual event celebrates 20 years.
As 20,000 festival-goers are set to descend on the site near Beauly this weekend, he reflected on how it has grown from the initial one-day event to Scotland’s biggest camping and outdoor festival.

Although he said it would be invidious to pick out his best memory, he said: “Almost without exception, every year the highlight has been that wonderful moment at the end of the event when the main headliner on the Saturday night has played and the audience has gathered at the main stage and the Inverness Legion pipers form up on the stage and Kenny Smith and Torridon start up with a version of Caledonia or Loch Lomond or something and the whole place is full of happy people who have had a wonderful weekend and say goodbye to each other for another year.
“I always find no matter how many marvellous acts there have been during the festival, that is a key moment and pulls it altogether and sums it up.”
He also revealed he is looking forward to seeing Teenage Fanclub at this year’s festival which opens its gates to the public tomorrow.
