Trains running again on Highland Mainline after Network Rail Scotland confirms reopening between Inverness and Perth

The Highland Mainline has reopened to trains between Perth and Inverness, Network Rail Scotland has confirmed.

The route had been closed since Storm Babet struck, with only the section between Aviemore and Inverness operating a reduced service.

But the track has now fully reopened.

Disruption continues elsewhere on Highland routes however.

The Inverness-Aberdeen line continues to be closed between Elgin and the Granite City.

The Far North Line had also been closed north of Tain since Storm Babet struck.

And disruption continued into Saturday with planned engineering work meaning there were no trains running on the Far North Line.

The Kyle Line, which had been affected by closures stemming from fallen trees heading into the weekend, is also closed on Saturday due to engineering works.

Bus replacement services are running on those two lines.
