Traffic Scotland reports that the A9 is currently restricted northbound at Daviot due to a road traffic accident.

"Road users are advised to use caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey."

The accident happened shortly after noon today and closed the northbound lane completely for nearly two hours.

But travellers report that traffic is now moving if slowly.

"Everyone is behaving well," said one local motorist, Carolyn Cornfield from Kincraig who was travelling to the Highland capital when the gridlock hit.

"We are all moving in single file past the accident spot.

"Hopefully things will be back to normal very soon."
