Police are at the scene of an "unexplained" death in the Dalneigh area of Inverness for a second day.

Local media have been in the area this morning in a bid to inform people what prompted the relatively large police presence seen in the area yesterday.

Forensic experts were spotted at a property in the St Ninian Drive on Sunday, after police were initially alerted to a death at just after midnight yesterday.

The building and garden have been cordoned off by police, while a vehicle remains outside.

An area of the Caledonian Canal nearby was also blocked off for a period yesterday as part of the investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said this morning: “At around 12.10am on Sunday, November 12, police were called to a property in the St Ninian Drive area of Inverness, following the sudden death of a 36-year-old man.

"The death is being treated as unexplained pending a post-mortem examination.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
