A world champion Highland dancer helped boost her dad's Strictly Inverness fundraising efforts with a unique event at Inverness Town House.

Lily Kelman (17) staged a Highland dancing practice day for everyone from non-dancers to those classed as premier.

Her expertise helped bring in £740 for the organisers and hosts of Strictly Inverness, Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.

Lily's dad Jason is competing in the annual dance contest which takes place in May.

The 50-year-old, from Inverness, is a principal project manager with the Highland Council and is involved in the ongoing Inverness Castle redevelopment project.

"I’m doing Strictly because my wife Yvonne and kids, Lily and Grace, applied for it without me knowing," he said. "I only agreed after the shock of finding this out because it is for the Highland Hospice."

Lily was thankful for everyone's support, adding that she had a great time. "Everyone worked so hard and I hope they got something out of the day," she said.

Partnered with Shireen Fyffe, from Inverness, they are learning a Charleston and a quickstep, as well as a team dance with seven other couples who are performing on the Thursday evening of the contest.

Jason has more fundraising events coming up, including a curling session at the ice centre on February 9, a coffee morning at the town house on April 6 and the possibility of a ceilidh in April.
