A LOCH NESS RNLI crew was called yesterday afternoon to assist a catamaran that had become grounded astern on the rocks off Urquhart Castle.

The boat launched at 7.35pm last night (Tuesday, June 6) to assist the couple on board.

A RNLI Loch Ness spokesperson said: "On reaching the casualty vessel, a crew member went aboard to assess the situation.

"The couple on board were safe and well, and there was no water ingress or pollution.

"The crew then set up and proceeded to tow the vessel off the rocks."

Once the vessel was safe in deep water, the crew member returned to the lifeboat, and then the lifeboat returned to the station at around 9pm.
