Injuries still to be confirmed after A9 crash at Calvine
Investigations are continuing after yesterday’s long closure of the A9 south of Dalwhinnie caused by a crash which involved three vehicles.
The road was closed from shortly before 2pm until around 9pm and details of any casualties are still awaited from the emergency services.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Courier that it had despatched Newtonmore’s community response unit to the scene along with a crew from the Kingussie station.
They were there to assist with the emergency, the spokesperson said, until the stop notice was issued later in the afternoon.
During the incident the main road was shut at Calvine, north of Blair Atholl, and closures were in place at Dalwhinnie southbound and House of Bruar northbound.
Details of the aftermatch of the crash are still awaited from Police Scotland, who said they would be publishing updates on social media.
These have not yet transpired.
Long delays and diversions were the order of the day and at one point there were reports of another incident in the area on one of the diversions, but nothing authoritative has been received on that.
A post on X this morning confirmed: “Police Scotland advise that the A9 at Calvine is now open in both directions following a serious road collision.
“The public are thanked for their understanding and considerate approach in avoiding the area to allow officers to complete the investigation.”
