A9 closed in both directions after Cromarty Bridge crash, Traffic Scotland warns Highland motorists
The A9 was closed in both directions after a road crash at the northern end of the Cromarty Bridge.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Sunday lunchtime.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it sent two appliances to the scene at 12.35pm after receiving a call from the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The crews assisted with scene safety before standing down at 12.53pm.
An SFRS spokesperson added that the crash involved one vehicle, which they said was understood to be a motorbike.
A Traffic Scotland spokesperson, meanwhile, has advised motorists approaching the scene to use "caution" and to “seek an alternative route”. They said: "A9 Cromarty Bridge is currently closed in both directions due to a road accident on the north side of the bridge. Road users are advised to seek an alternative route and expect longer than normal journey times.”
It is not known if the rider of the motorbike was injured, or if other vehicles were involved.
The Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland have been approached for further information.
