The contribution of Munlochy Animal Aid supporter Rhona Dalgarno was hailed by stalwart shelter operator, Iona Nicol.

She made her remarks after a tea party celebrating the £80,000 Rhona and her partner Jimmy have raised through Bella’s Bargains over the past five years.

Their venture sells donated pre-loved pet goods – such as jackets and beds and toys – and passes on the profits to the Munlochy shelter.

Ms Nicol said meeting the spiralling cost of vet bills, energy, food and insurance is a constant challenge.

She said it was a fantastic amount at a time when everyone is facing financial challenges.

Rhona Dalgarno said: “Iona put on a lovely coffee morning with lots of lovely goodies for us and all her dog walkers and supporters came along too. A huge thank you again to all who donated and bought from us.”

Earlier, she posted: "We had an amazing February, reached the grand total of £80,000 now and it's BB 5th year of helping Munlochy Animal Aid. Iona put on a lovely coffee morning with lots of lovely goodies for us and all her dog walkers and supporters came along too. Bella the boss got to go also. A huge thank you again to all who donated and bought from us here. Onwards and upwards for March."

Ms Nicol added: "It went very well. Our regular dog walkers were also invited. I thought it was nice for them to meet Rhona and Jimmy. The youngest is six and the oldest is 85. We couldn't possibly manage without them. Some are retired and others do it on their days off.

"I've known Rhona for years. She is really good at what she does. She has got really good imagination."

Her own second book, Loving and Living with Animals, can be posted out.
