More than 120 people shared their pandemic stories in person during a day-long event in Inverness.

The UK Covid-19 Inquiry visited the Spectrum Centre in Farraline Park as part of a series of nationwide Every Story Matters community events.

The inquiry, which opened in June 2022, was established to examine the preparedness for, the response to, and the impact of the pandemic and to learn lessons for the future.

Every Story Matters will support the inquiry’s investigations by providing evidence about the human impact of the pandemic on the UK population.

Chaired by Baroness Heather Hallett, the Inquiry plans to conclude its public hearings in 2026.

Following the Inverness event, an inquiry spokesperson explained what would happen next.

“We’re bringing together peoples’ stories into themed reports to flow into our investigations,” the spokesperson said.

“Every story shared with us will be reviewed and act as a basis of themed records of experiences. “They are then completely anonymised before they are entered into evidence by the Chair.

“They will be available on our website for everyone to access”

People can also contribute online at Every Story Matters.

The spokesperson added: “We appreciate that the Highlands is a big place and we'd love to hear from everyone who wants to tell their story.”

Participants do not need to have had Covid-19 or an experience that is directly related to the virus.
