Trains will be delayed due to the heavy rains today.

The heavy rain forecasts affecting the Highlands are expected to cause major disruption to train travels in the region this morning.

ScotRail have announced cancellations to services between Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness and delays on trains between Perth and Glasgow.

Disruption will also affect the Kyle Of Lochalsh line with delays of half an hour as well as services not calling at all stations.

This is due to speed restrictions in place following the forecast of heavy rain.

Disruption is expected to last until around 7pm today (20 September).

The train operator is urging customers to check the entire journey before travel as speed restrictions will result in extended journey times.
