FORMER Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Ross Tokely is set to be the next manager of Highland League club Nairn County, it is believed.

Sources have told the Inverness Courier that the 45-year-old will be unveiled as the new man in charge of Nairn County in the next few days.

It is also believed that former St Duthus manager Alan Geegan, who resigned in charge of the North Caledonian League club earlier today, will become Tokely’s assistant manager.

Sources say that Tokely, who has played as a defender at Nairn County for the past two seasons, will take over from Steven Mackay, who resigned at the end of the season.

Tokely has previously been in management in the Highland League with Brora Rangers between 2016 and 2018.

Tokely holds the record number of appearances for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, playing 589 times between 1996 and 2012.

During his playing career, Tokely also played for Ross County, Brora Rangers and St Duthus before signing for Nairn County in 2022.

In his two years playing at Nairn County, he won the North of Scotland Cup last season when Nairn beat Ross County 5-4.

He announced his retirement from playing at the end of last season as Nairn County finished in eighth place in the Highland League

Earlier today, it was announced Geegan resigned from his position as manager of St Duthus after three years at the club.

In a statement, he said that he was looking forward to a challenge at a higher level.

He said in the club statement: “It's with a heavy heart I leave the club but I have a fantastic opportunity to test myself at a higher level and I now look forward to the challenge.”
