An Inverness synchronized skating team is set to compete at an international competition in France this weekend.

The Northern Lights, one of Highland Synchronized Ice Skating’s teams training in Inverness and other ice rinks in the region, travelled down to Montpellier yesterday to take part in this year’s International Mixed Age Trophy.

Club spokeswoman Sarah MacKintosh said: “The girls have worked so hard this season to get to this international competition both in training and fundraising

“We have also been so well supported by many amazing local businesses with sponsorship and donations.”

Their participation is being seen a major step forward for the club, based at the Inverness Ice Centre, who are already impressing at competitions throughout the United Kingdom.

After a day of practice and event draws, the official competition and award ceremony are set to take place tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, April 20).

The team will bring their skating performance to the notes of Bonnie Tyler’s Tire Tracks And Broken Hearts.
