Glen sang with choral before his continuing music studies
LOCAL singer Glen Cunningham – currently studying at the Royal College of Music’s opera studio – solos at Inverness Choral’s Eden Court concert on Saturday.
Born in Inverness and brought up in Nairn, Glen sang with the choir during his final two years at Culloden Academy before starting his musical career.
He is currently studying at the Royal College of Music’s opera studio and previously completed a one-year Masters at the RCM and a Bachelor of Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Glen was recently awarded the Wiseman Prize by Sir James Caird Travelling Scholarships Trust and he won the 2018 Joan Chissell Schumann Competition at the Royal College of Music.
For their spring concert, the choral will perform Haydn’s Mass in D minor – the Nelson Mass, and John Rutter’s Magnificat.
Joining them on stage will be their conductor Gordon Tocher, the Inverness Sinfonia and professional soloists Anna Heywood (soprano), Beca Davies (mezzo soprano), Jacob Bettinelli (bass-baritone) and tenor Glen.
Those who attended the ‘scratch’ Messiah at Ness Bank Church last year will be familiar with the four soloists – they all performed then too.
The concert starts at 7.30pm.
