Idlewild make come back with intimate Highland tour
SCOTTISH indie heroes Idlewild have singled an end to their sabbatical with a return to the studio and the road, including an intimate tour of the Highlands and Islands this autumn.
The band have been on hiatus since 2010, allowing its members to concentrate on other projects, including Mull-based frontman Roddy Woomble’s folk-influenced solo albums and guitarist Rod Jones’ own band The Birthday Suit.
However, in November last year the band confirmed they had begun work on their eighth studio album, to be released in 2015.
In anticipation of the new release, Idlewild will tour the Scottish Highlands and Islands in October 2014.
These shows, their first in four years, will take an acoustic, stripped back format reflecting the intimate and often unique venues they will be visiting along the way.
The concerts will give the band the chance to explore their back catalogue, to try out new songs and ideas, and to generally have some fun playing music. Full band electric shows will accompany the album release in 2015.
