Heading from Dunfermline to Fuzzness are Melted Messiah

Melted Messiah – Stoner/sludge, jazz/doom black metal band from Dunfermline, Scotland. And their new album Some Good Riffs is out on Friday.

Melted Messiah.
Melted Messiah.

Q What was the music or artist you first remember that inspired you to get into making music yourself(ves)?

A Mark (guitar and vocals): Has to be Bathory for me, first time I had heard metal. It's when I really woke up and took notice of music for the first time.

A Jon (drums): Spin Doctors' Two Princes off the best rock album in the world ever volume two in my best friend's bedroom back in 1996/97. That’s when I knew I was going to become one of the greatest underground niche metal drummers Scotland has ever seen.

Q What have been some of the most memorable gigs you have seen?

A Mark: I love to go and see Sunn 0))), just the sheer volume every time is quite a spiritual experience.

A Jon (drums): Limp Bizkit SECC 2000.

Q Now, what is the best gig you have had as a musician?

A Mark: Closing the Red Crust Festival in Edinburgh last year was a blast. There was a massive delay with the headliner, so we ended up playing our set at the afterparty at 1.30am. Everyone stuck around for it and it was mental.

A Jon (drums): The closing set of last year's Red Crust Festival. Two in the morning. Folk going nuts, doing the row boat, and got the "One more song!" chant.

Q Fuzzness celebrates doom, stoner sludge at its finest. What will be the best thing about it for you?

A Mark: I've heard a lot about the great scene up there and we have yet to visit, so it will be great to see some new faces. The rest of the line-up is mint too, so will be great for us to spectate when we're not playing too.

A Jon (drums): I like doom. I like stoner sludge. Who will win? Fiiiiight!

Q (for visiting bands) What do you love/ dread about being on the road to get to a gig like this?

A Mark: I like an adventure, the scenery on the way up the A9 is cool. The only thing we have to worry about is how early we'll need to get up to start driving. We have our album launch party in Dunfermline the night before, so will have to pace ourselves ha ha.

A Jon (drums): Love car snacks. Hate the drivers of certain makes of cars. We all know who they are.

Q If you could have a fantasy hero, music or otherwise, to share a bill with this year, who would it be?

A Jon (drums): I think if Melted Messiah shared the bill with Conan and Thin Lizzy it would be the greatest gig of all time.
