Nairn County agree deal to keep midfielder as they look ahead to new Highland League campaign
Nairn County have confirmed they have retained the services of Andrew Greig after he agreed a new two-year-deal.
The 32-year-old has decided to stay on at Station Park until the end of the 2026/27 season as he put pen to paper on the deal.
Greig returned to action this season after missing the entirety of the 2023/24 with a back injury and scored 10 goals.
Manager Wayne Mackintosh, who was appointed at the end of last month, is pleased Greig has agreed to stay on at the club.
He said: "I have known Andrew for a long time having played with him here and at Formartine United before that. “He has shown throughout his career in the Highland League the dangerous attacking threat he brings to teams, so we are delighted that he has agreed to extend his stay with the club.
"When I spoke to Andrew, he was really enthusiastic about the direction the club is now looking to go in the new season, which was great to hear. There are not many players about who can provide what Andrew brings to the table and most teams in the league would happily have him in their squad, so it is great news for us that he has signed up for the next couple of seasons.
"I am looking forward to working with Andrew closely over the next couple of seasons. I know what he is all about and the quality and experience he has, which is going to be important for us going into the new season."
Greig started his career at Inverness Caledonian Thistle before joining Brora Rangers in 2012.
While at Dudgeon Park, he won two Highland League championships, the Highland League Cup and two North of Scotland Cups as well as claiming the Highland League Player of the Year prize.
He moved on to Formartine United in November 2017, winning the Aberdeenshire Shield and Highland League Cup in his time with the Pitmedden-based club before making the switch to Station Park in January 2022. In total, he has made 77 appearances for the club including 36 last season.
It has also been confirmed that goalkeeper Dylan Mackay has signed a new two-year contract with Nairn County.
Elsewhere, striker James Anderson has signed a new deal to remain with Clachnacuddin.
