Win at Raith Rovers can be Inverness Caley Thistle's turning point

Mark Ridgers hopes Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s victory away at Raith Rovers will prove to be a turning point for the club’s season.

Despite playing against 10 men for most of the game, the Caley Jags still had to show their quality at both ends of the park to claim three points at Kirkcaldy.

After a tough run both in terms of results and the sheer number of games Inverness have had recently, Ridgers says there was nothing but positives to take away from Stark’s Park.

“The schedule we’ve had this month is incredibly hard,” he said.

“It’s game after game, but the boys dug in excellently. Defensively we were brilliant, and we got that bit of luck we needed to get the win.

“The way games have been for us, hopefully this will be a turning point and the boys will get a massive lift, because it has been really frustrating.

“We did what we had to do, and from my point of view defensively, we’ve got two clean sheets on the bounce. We’ve always said if we can keep clean sheets, we’ve got enough up front to go and win.

“When you’re playing against 10 men it’s difficult, they made it really hard for us by being difficult to break down, but we found the breakthrough and then we dealt with the pressure at the end, so it’s all positives.”

The decisive goal even featured a rare assist for the goalkeeper, with his hoofed kick finding goalscorer Daniel MacKay.

“I’ve tried it for years since I’ve been here, and a couple of times we’ve been unlucky,” he added.

“They pushed up high, and I’ve got a big kick, so it’s worked out well.

“It bounced lovely for Dan, and he’s taken it really well. That goal will give him and everyone a wee boost. The games keep coming thick and fast, so it’s just about getting points on the board now.”
