The Highland Wildcats will finally get their BAFANL campaign underway on Saturday when they travel to Edinburgh to face the Merseyside Nighthawks.

The season normally begins in April, but the withdrawal of teams from the league meant delays and reorganisation of the fixture lists.

Wildcats’ youth development officer Robbie Paulin says that the uncertainty around their 2018 schedule seems to be indicative of the state of youth grid iron across the country.
