Inverness Caley Thistle to take on Dundee while Ross County face rematch of Premiership play-off final in 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup group stage

Inverness Caledonian Thistle will take on the top seeds in the group stage of the League Cup.

The Caley Jags have been drawn against Dundee, who are the only club to finish in last season’s Premiership top six to take part in the group stages.

They will be taking part in Group D, as will Arbroath who join Inverness in dropping down to League One from the Championship for next season.

Alongside those three sides will be Annan Athletic and Bonnyrigg Rose.

Ross County, meanwhile, face a repeat of the Premiership play-off final as they have been drawn in the same group as Championship runners up Raith Rovers.

The Kirkcaldy outfit will be out for revenge in Group H, having come up short against the Staggies in their bid to reach the top flight.

Elsewhere in that group there will be matches against newly-promoted Hamilton Academical and Stirling Albion, as well as Stranraer for the second year running.

Both Highland teams have a history in the competition, with Caley Thistle reaching the final in 2014 before losing to Aberdeen in a penalty shoot-out, and Ross County going one better by lifting the trophy in 2016.

Last year though, the Caley Jags went out in the group stage after a disappointing run, finishing fourth in their group behind Airdrieonians, Dundee and Dumbarton.

The Staggies finished at the top of their group, though, defeating Morton, Stranraer and Edinburgh City while gaining a point against Kelty Hearts.

Opening matches for this year’s group stage will take place on the weekend of July 13/14, with the order of fixtures to be confirmed in due course.
