Inverness Caledonian Thistle play a number of trialists in friendlies as they look to build up squad for new League One campaign





Inverness Caledonian Thistle have played a number of trialists during friendlies this week as they continue preparations for the new League One season.

Since the club came out of administration earlier this month, Inverness are once again allowed to sign new players.

Inverness have already been busy in the transfer market, signing goalkeepers Ross Munro and Logan Ross, midfielders Joe Chalmers and David Wotherspoon along with defender Ross Millen.

However, during this week in friendlies against Nairn County and Rothes on Wednesday followed with Clachnacuddin and Rothes on Saturday, a number of trialists have been given the opportunity to shine in the hope of getting a contract.

But who are the trialists that have featured for Inverness this week?

Charlie Frost - Forward

Striker who played with English North West Counties side Nelson last season and scored 34 goals. Declined a new contract and left the club at the end of last season.

Carlos Heredia (26) - Winger

Dominican Republic internationalist who has played 15 times for his country and scored two goals against Bonaire and French Guyana.

Born in Barcelona, he started his youth career at Club Esportiu Europa before moving to England with Milton Keynes Dons in 2016. He then went on to sign for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017 and spent two seasons there before heading to Poland to sign for Miedź Legnica. Signed for Delfines del Este Fútbol Club in the Dominican Republic in 2021 before moving to Cibao later that year and spent the last three seasons at the club.

Ethan Giwa McNeil (22) - Attacker

English attacking forward who appears to have spent most of his football career in the United States. Played for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers before moving to the Houston Christian University Huskies in 2022. Also spent time at American clubs Lubbock and Fort Wayne.

Austin Nikownta (21) - Right Back

English/Nigerian defender who came through the Manchester United youth system and then moved onto Reading. Played at a number of clubs in England including Grays Athletic and Dagenham and Redbridge where he was sent on loan to Hornchurch, Romford, Coggeshall and Witham Town. Moved to Germany in August 2023 to sign for SV 1910 Neuhof before returning to England last season with Bowers and Pitsea. Then signed for Isthman League Premier Division team Aveley in March before being released at the end of the season.

Destiny Ojo (20) - Left Wing

English/Nigerian midfielder who came through the youth set-up at Portsmouth and was sent on loan to Lancing and Poole Town. Joined Cliftonville in Northern Ireland last season where he made 14 appearances before leaving at the end of the campaign when they finished in seventh place.

Freddie Renshaw - Midfielder

Another English midfielder who played with Stockport County under-18’s and has played in the EFL Cup and Premier League Cup last season.
