HEAD coach Scott Kellacher says he has never been as proud of a bunch of boys as he was with his team today as Inverness Caledonian Thistle won their first game since going into administration.

Inverness came from behind to defeat Cove Rangers 2-1 at the Balmoral Stadium in Aberdeen to move off negative points and on to one point in League One.

Mitch Megginson gave Cove Rangers the lead in the first half and then saw his penalty saved from Caley Thistle goalkeeper Musa Dibaga which could have put them 2-0 up.

Adam Mackinnon pulled one back for Inverness immediately after the penalty save before Keith Bray’s strike in the second half gave the visitors victory on Saturday.

Kellacher, who was appointed head coach after former boss Duncan Ferguson was axed, said Inverness going into administration has been tough on his players as well as everyone at the club.

But he says the team’s determination and performance against Cove Rangers to pick up a win made him proud and confident for the season ahead.

Speaking about the win, he said: “It means everything. The pressure was on for us to get that first win. It was so important to go where we need to go to.

“First half we didn’t start the game well at all. It was the poorest we have been in terms of starting a game.

“We get caught out and Megginson does what he does and gets the goal. Then I said let’s see what their character is all about.

“Cove get the penalty and we think it is going to be one of those days. We needed the boys to stand up and be counted.

“As soon as Cove miss the penalty, our boys stood up and were counted. They gave everything they have got and that is all I ask for every week.

“The quality in our dressing room is not a problem. When they work as hard as that on the ball, it is brilliant. I have never been so proud of a bunch of boys.

“In the last few weeks they have gone through a lot. They have worked so hard, every day, along with the rest of the staff at the club. “

Kellacher also paid tribute to the fans who travelled to Aberdeen to support them saying their backing meant everything to the team.

He wants to repay them by recording more wins to get them out of the relegation zone.

“When I saw the fans coming down in their numbers, this win is for us all.

“But it is a stepping stone. We know how big the task is. We will look to next Saturday and that is our main focus now.”
