What did Duncan Ferguson say as Inverness Caley Thistle drew with Cove Rangers?
MANAGER Duncan Ferguson accepts scoring goals is a problem which is costing Inverness Caledonian Thistle points this season.
Inverness had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Cove Rangers as they have drawn four of their six matches this season with one win and one defeat.
Neither side could find a winner, but Ferguson felt his team had more than enough chances to win the game.
He said: “I was happy to get back into the game as we had two or three of the better chances in the first half. They had one chance in the first half with a mistake from us and they finished well.
“But I thought we performed well in the first half apart from sticking the ball in the net. That has been our problem for 12 months and it is clear for everyone to see.
“Our defensive effort has been outstanding and the goals for hasn’t been.
“But the boys are giving me everything, but it just that last part.
“Everyone has to chip in, midfielders have to score goals, full-backs score goals.”
Jamie Mackinnon, who had refereed a kids game earlier in the day, came down from the stands to take over as a linesman, Will Pare took over referee duties.
Ferguson thanked Mackinnon for allowing the game to continue, but felt the stoppage killed Caley Thistle’s momentum.
“It is one of those things that happens and to be fair we got somebody out of the stand so the game could continue, so fair play to the boy.
“The stoppage did not help us as we gathering a nice bit of rhythm, but the stoppage killed us totally.
“The second half was disappointing, but the first half I thought we were really good.”
