Victory over Strathspey Thistle was important moment for Clachnacuddin, says Sandy McLeod
Sandy McLeod says Clachnacuddin winning their second match of the season in the Highland League was an important moment for the club.
Goals from Martin Callum and Scott Graham gave Clach a 2–1 victory against Strathspey Thistle at Merkinch.
The win saw the Lilywhites rise two places to 14th in the table above Turriff United and Lossiemouth.
McLeod, who also recorded his second league win since taking over as manager in August, said the importance of the win can't be understated.
"It was a massive result for myself, the boys and for everyone at the club," he said.
"We badly needed to get a win and the boys did really well.
"I thought we could have been out of sight at half time with the amount of chances that we had.
"We ended up holding on, but the only thing that matters is that we got there in the end."
Graham, who signed from Buckie Thistle last week, scored the winner against Strathspey in the second half.
Former Strathspey Thistle striker John Cameron, who also signed last week, impressed for Clachnacuddin too.
McLeod believes the experience of both players will prove vital at they are about to enter the second half of the campaign.
"It was particularly pleasing for Scott to score as he knows he missed a few chances in the first half.
"But like all good strikers he knew that if he kept going the goal would come and got one in the end."
"John Cameron also had a good performance so it is helping having experience in the team."
