Sutherland hoping for chance to shine
"We were looking to get into the top six, so to finish 10th was a bit of a letdown, but I’m sure we will kick on next year."
"It was a great spell for the team," he said. "We don’t know who will be here next season, but we will come back to start working hard in pre-season and try and improve on last season.
It completed a three-game unbeaten run for Inveress, which included a trio of clean sheets. Sutherland is hopeful that it could give the players momentum going into the 2012/13 season.
Sutherland’s last appearance for Caley Thistle came in the 2-0 home win against Hibernian on the final day of the last campaign.
"But that is definitely something I can add to next season and hopefully if I play more games that will give me more chances and I will score a few more goals."
"I just had the one this season — but it was the match winner against Hearts.
"Hopefully next season I will continue to get more appearances and chip in with a few more goals.
"Next year is the last one on my contract, so I have a point to prove," said Sutherland. "I know I can do better and I can be a more consistent performer.
With 12 months left on his current deal, he hopes Inverness manager Terry Butcher puts more trust in him as Caley Thistle aim to improve on the 10th place finish they managed this year.
The 21-year-old — who last season scored just once in 29 appearances, 19 of them coming from the bench — knows the next campaign has to be one in which he looks to shine.
SHANE Sutherland is certain he will repay faith in him with goals, if he is given the chance at Caley Thistle.
