Nairn County confirm return of Gary Kerr as established Highland League striker returns for third spell at Station Park
Nairn County have announced the return of striker Gary Kerr to Station Park.
The 33-year-old striker has put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract with us with an option of a second year following the expiry of his contract at Rothes.
Manager Ross Tokely was delighted to bring complete his second signing of the summer, having recruited midfielder Alan Pollock earlier in the close season.
He said: "I have had a number of discussions with Gary and throughout he showed a real willingness to come back to the club.
"He has been away for a few seasons now and had a successful time at Rothes but his previous spells here were quite short, so he feels he still has some unfinished business with Nairn.
"He has that hunger about him and he is looking forward to starting pre-season and getting into the swing of it again. He will bring us a different dimension to our attacking play because he is a big, physical striker who is great at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. That is important for the way we want the team to play.
"I am delighted that Gary has chosen to come to Nairn and we are all looking forward to working with him when we start pre-season training next month."
It is Kerr’s third spell with the Wee County, having most recently left in January 2018 to join Rothes. In his six-and-a-half years at MacKessack Park, he won the Highland League Cup in 2020 and the North of Scotland Cup in 2021.
Prior to that, he had spent 18 months at Station Park, scoring 18 goals in 35 appearances during the 2016/17 season and adding a further five to his tally during the first half of the following campaign.
Gary started his Highland League career at Brora Rangers in 2011 before a spell at Inverness City preceded his first move to Nairn, joining in the summer of 2013.
During that time he spent a month on loan at Clachnacuddin, before joining Strathspey Thistle permanently in February 2015 and completing his first return to the Wee County in the summer of 2016.
