Inverness Caley Thistle loan signing from Aberdeen looks to make big impact at club where his dad used to play over 20 years ago

Alfie Bavidge says speaking to his dad, who spent four years of his career at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, convinced him a loan move to the Highlands was right for him.

The striker is the son of Martin Bavidge, who played for Inverness between 1998 and 2002, and followed in his footsteps by agreeing a loan deal from Aberdeen until the end of the season.

The teenager made an immediate impact for Inverness as he scored in their 2-0 win against Dumbarton on Saturday afternoon.

He arrives at Inverness after previously being on loan at Ayr United during the first half of the campaign.

Inverness head coach Scott Kellacher was impressed with the contribution Bavidge made on his debut where he was named man of the match.

Bavidge (18) says he spoke with his dad, who played 96 times for Inverness over four seasons, before moving on loan to the Caledonian Stadium.

After he heard what he had to say and the recommendations from his father, Bavidge felt it was the right move for him.

He said: “There was interest in the summer and I knew that it is a great club. I was speaking to my Dad about it and he couldn’t recommend the club enough.

“It came quickly and it was an easy enough decision for me in the end.

“My Dad came to one of the games not too long ago and he thought that it would be a good fit for me.”

Bavidge was a loan target for Inverness before the end of the summer transfer window.

But he went to Championship outfit Ayr United, after an impressive spell on loan at Kelty Hearts last season.

He was recalled by the Dons after 14 appearances at Ayr where he found the net twice before going on loan to Inverness.

He is joined from Aberdeen by midfielder Alfie Stewart who is also on loan until the end of the season.

He was delighted to find the net on his debut and hopes that he will continue to find the net during his time at the club to fire them out of relegation trouble.

Speaking about scoring on his debut, Bavidge said: “I am buzzing obviously as it is a big game for us to go and win. I am just glad to help the team.

Scoring goals is what I love doing best. Hopefully I can bring them here.

“I just came out here wanting to get games and I think this is the right place for me.

“Especially after the game, as the teams plays really good football.

“You always have to have confidence as a footballer. Before the game, I had to try and be confident and make things happen. I am glad we could win in the end.”
