SHINTY: Lovat players are called up to Scotland squad to face Ireland

THREE Lovat players have been selected in the Scotland squad to face Ireland in the shinty/hurling international which will take place later this month.

Craig Mainland, Danny Kelly and Stuart Macdonald have all been included in the squad which will take on their Irish counterparts in Ennis on Saturday, October 26.

Scotland Manager Gary Reid selected the following 20-man squad, after a number of trial and training sessions.

The Mowi Shinty/Hurling International Exhibition match has been a long-standing tradition, bringing together top talents from both Scotland and Ireland in a thrilling showcase of shinty and hurling skills.

The event is a collaboration between the Camanachd Association and the GAA, the governing body for Gaelic Games in Ireland.

The match, which returned last year after an unavoidable hiatus due to COVID-19 which Ireland won the match last year by eight points in a thrilling affair in Newry’s Pairc Esler.
