A double from Troy Cooper had given the Lilywhites an advantage going into half time, but it was in the second half that they really pushed on.

Cooper first turned provider for Blair Lawrie before completing his hat-trick to make it 4-0.

James Anderson would then claim his 20th of the season to make it five, before January signing Greg Morrison opened his Clach account.

Anderson would then put the cherry on top with his second of the afternoon, and Clach’s seventh, marking the fourth time this season they have scored seven in a match.

All three points would mean Conor Gethins’ side remain in fifth place, and they will return to action quickly with a trip to Strathspey Thistle on Wednesday night.

Defender Josh Meekings said that the result was a sign of the ruthlessness Clach have shown this season to turn Grant Street Park into a fortress.

“We were actually a bit disappointed at half time, because we thought we were a bit slack on the ball, but at the end of the day it was an extremely good win at home,” he told the club’s media team.

“We got another clean sheet again, which was important, so it was a good way to end the game.

“I don’t think you can take any game in this league for granted. We try to make Grant Street as much of a fortress as we can, and I think we’ve done that.

“Everything that has happened this season has been positive, and that’s what we want. There is a lot of support coming into the ground, and we’re performing on the pitch too.”

It is Meekings’ first season with the club, having moved from Brora alongside Joe Malin and Gavin Morrison to add some experience to Conor Gethins’ young squad.

“I was doing a bit of coaching before, but I just wanted to concentrate on playing again,” Meekings recalled.

“Myself and Joe have done brought some experience into the side, and Gavin was going to be a part of that before his injury, but the boys have been tremendous this season.

“There’s more to come too. That squad is very talented, and it’s up to us to keep pushing the standards in games and in training as well.

“It’s important that we keep driving things up, and it’s about belief. From last season to this year there has been a massive difference, and it’s no coincidence that the team has worked extremely hard.

“The team is as fit as anything, and it pays off with results like Rothes that make it all worthwhile. We just want to finish the season as strongly as possible now and see where we are.”
