Ross delight at surprise Highland award

Seumas Ross says it was a big shock to be named Highland Rugby Club’s player of the year at their end-of-season awards.

It was a successful year for the Greens, who won promotion to National One and reached the National League Cup final.

Inside centre Ross was at the heart of those triumphs, and was rewarded with the individual prize last Friday.

“I’m only 21 so I’m one of the youngest boys in the team,” Ross said.

“There was no way I was expecting to win it when there are boys much older than me, who have been there for years.

“It was a big shock, but I was absolutely buzzing the whole night. You couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.”
