Alex Iacovitti says Ross County’s players were left shell-shocked by their Fir Park disappointment.

Despite looking like the better side for much of the game and creating plenty of chances to score, the Staggies lost 2–1 at Motherwell.

The 24-year-old defender says County’s squad were left scratching their heads after the full time whistle at how they managed to come away with nothing from a game they seemed to have earned something in.

“It was really disappointing, I can’t believe we’ve come away without any points to be honest,” Iacovitti explained.

“Everyone’s shocked, but we need to stay humble and continue working hard and believe in what the manager wants us to do and move on.

“Some of the football we played was really good. We stuck to the gameplan really well.

“We executed it really well too, it’s just fine margins, so it’s really disappointing.”

The defeat means County are still searching for their first win of the Premiership campaign.

Doom and gloom has by no means set in though, since performances like last weekend have kept spirits high and players believing that it is only a matter of time before they win.

All it will take is an added cutting edge in front of goal to turn good displays into tangible results.

Iacovitti, therefore, will attempt to remain upbeat ahead of their next game away at Dundee United.

“It’s one of those, in every game we’ll look to take three points, but if you look at the way we played it’s not far away whatsoever,” he insisted.

“We need to keep doing what we’re doing and believing in ourselves, and we’ll be fine.

“It’s just about taking our chances and keeping goals out of our net. It has been cheap goals, but the more games we play we’ll get to know each other, and the better it will become.

“We’ll gel together nicely, so I think the results are coming soon.”
