"No sane reason" behind rescheduled Highland derby date

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson has voiced his disappointment over the rescheduled date for the last Highland derby of the season.

Ross County were initially supposed to travel over the Kessock Bridge to face Caley Thistle on March 15, but the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch – a decision that Robertson was unhappy to see made on the day of the match when there was no chance of it going ahead.

Both clubs had agreed a date for the rescheduled match to be played and put it forward to the SPFL, only for the league to overrule them and schedule it for next Tuesday at 7.05pm.

Robertson was disappointed that the club’s wishes were not taken into account, and says if anything the decision may put the game at risk once again.

“We’ve made a point that we didn’t feel the Ross County game needed to be put on that date,” he explained.

“They felt that the game shouldn’t be on that date either, but unfortunately the SPFL decided it will go ahead on that day.

“There’s no sane reason why it should."
