Report Highland consortium launches bid to take control of Inverness Caledonian Thistle
A report claims a Highland businessman is fronting a consortium who are looking to launch a bid to takeover at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The Sun have reported that a group led by a Highland businessman is behind an attempt to take over the League One club.
This is despite negotiations taking place between Seventy7 Ventures being believed to be approaching the final stages with a deal for them to take over as the majority shareholder.
However, it is believed a group have launched a fresh bid to take control at the Caledonian Stadium.
It has been reported details are expected to be made later this afternoon by Inverness Caledonian Thistle, although the club have not made official comment at present.
It is also reported that chief executive Scot Gardiner will leave Inverness Caledonian Thistle after he handed in his resignation earlier this summer.
The news now brings fresh uncertainty over the club’s future after it was believed a deal with Seventy7 Ventures was set to safeguard Caley Thistle.
In an interview with the Inverness Courier earlier this month, Makwana said there would be no changes to Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s hierarchy until he had spoken to “every single human that is in that club”.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle have spent the summer trying to find new investment into the club following its relegation to League One after losing the Championship play-off final to Hamilton Academical.
The club had sought advice from an insolvency practitioner should its attempts to find new investment fail.
The claims come after it was reported yesterday by The Sun Premiership clubs Dundee and Ross County complained to the SPFL about Inverness Caledonian Thistle over failed payment of loan fees for Cammy Kerr and Alex Samuel who played there last season.
Ross County declined to comment on the claims while Inverness Caledonian Thistle have been approached for comment over the claims.
