MANAGER Jordan MacDonald says Clachnacuddin should have taken something from their 2–1 Highland League defeat to Keith despite playing with 10 men for 84 minutes.
Paul Brindle was sent off for violent conduct after just six minutes at Kynoch Park and will miss tomorrow’s night North of Scotland Cup quarter final clash against Wick Academy at Grant Street Park.
Keith took the lead in the 51st minute through Dem Yunus but Lewis Mackenzie levelled for Clachnacuddin nine minutes from time which looked like earning a point.
But Yunus scored his second goal in injury time as Keith grabbed all three points.
MacDonald says they lost the match as they failed to take a number of chances and says they have to put that right for future matches.
“I didn’t see the red card incident, Paul played a pass and I was following the ball until I heard a whistle,” he said.
“I can’t say if it was a red card or not as I did not see it.
“But forget the red card, the game should have been out of sight as we had more than enough chances so we can’t use the sending off as an excuse.
“We shot ourselves in the foot again.
“I am proud of the effort we produced with 10 men, but we should have been 3–0 up at half time.
“We can’t keep missing chances as we are putting ourselves in a situation and putting pressure on our back four.
“We can’t keep passing up on these chances.
“We were chasing the game and it looked like there was only going to be one winner, but they scored in injury time.”
Clachnacuddin face Wick Academy in the quarter final tonight and MacDonald wants to see a reaction.
“Wick Academy are always a tough game as they are a well drilled team who always cause us problems.
“We have an idea of what to expect from them and we know we will be in for a tough time.
“We are at home and we need to make our record better than it has been.”
