PICTURES: Kids party at Inverness Caley Thistle is a Christmas cracker

KIDS had the chance to meet some of their football heroes as well as tuck into a Christmas dinner at a special festive event at the Caledonian Stadium.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Community Development invited 100 youngsters to tuck into a Christmas dinner and meet players from Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Wednesday.

Primary school pupils from Bishop Eden’s, Bun-Sgoil Ghaidhlig Inbhir Nis, Dalneigh and Merkinch, who attend the Extra Time Breakfast Club and After School Clubs were in attendance.

They were treated to a festive lunch which was provided by Red Poppy Catering and were also given a tour of the Caledonian Stadium.

There was also a special guest appearance from Santa who delivered some presents to the lucky guests.

Community Development Manager Craig Masterton says it was an excellent afternoon and one of a number of events they hold during the festive season.

He said: “We are involved in a project called Extra Time with the Scottish Football Association where we deliver breakfast clubs and after school clubs in Inverness.

“We had children from a number of primary schools enjoying Christmas dinner and have a party at the stadium.

“We also held the kids party last year and we have held a Christmas dinner for the elderly for the last seven years.

“Red Poppy Catering were kind enough to help us out and helped deliver the meals for all the children.

“The kids really enjoyed the meal, touring the stadium and having a chance to meet the footballers too.”
