Inverness Caledonian Thistle continued their ruthless start to the Highlands and Islands League season as they hit the net 11 times at Inverness Royal Academy.

The league leaders have now scored an incredible 53 goals in their first three matches.

However they lost their clean sheet record as Nairn St Ninian hit the net twice and kept the score respectable until they lost six goals in the final 17 minutes.

The game was in danger of not going ahead though after both teams turned up in blue shirts.

The referee required to make a phone call to ensure Nairn would be allowed to wear bibs during the match.

Caley Thistle Development took the lead after two minutes as Rhea Hossack scored the first of five goals after she finally sent the ball into the net after Nairn goalkeeper Lisa Mason pulled off three excellent saves.

But the game was end to end and Saints deservedly equalised midway through the first half as Darcey Woodman broke free of the defence and kept her composure to fire past Zoe Morrison.

Both teams created chances, but Inverness took the lead as Maree Wood connected with a corner kick to fire into the net after the half hour.

Nairn heads went down conceding three goals in the last seven minutes of the first half with Wood getting her second to make it 3–1.

Further goals from Lauren Doherty and Chloe McAllister gave them a four goal advantage at half time.

Nairn attempted a fight back and pulled one back in the 70th minute with an outstanding free kick from Maizy McAfree finding the net from 40-yards.

But Inverness went ballistic in the final 17 minutes with Hossack scoring four times with strikes from Jenifer Mackenzie and Simone Coles also finding the net.
